Elephants feature strongly in the culture of Sri Lanka. You will see them represented in ancient carvings in the old cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. The best place to see live elephants is in the national parks or at the Pinnawela Orphanage, which you can visit on a day trip from Colombo. |
