Marsala Museo Nazionale Lilibeo on TravelSnapz

Carthaginian ship

One of the highlights of a trip to Marsala for history buffs is a visit to the Museo Nazionale Lilibeo in Via Boeo that runs along the sea front. The museum houses a partly reconstructed Carthaginian ship that was discovered off the coast near Marsala in 1970.

Pottery

Some of the cargo from the ship - perhaps these carried wine from the region.

The pottery is encrusted with shells.
